Nelson Cruz homered and drove in four runs as the Texas Rangers completed a two-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles with a 13-7 victory on Thursday.
Vladimir Guerrero and Matt Treanor also homered for American League West-leading Texas, which sent nine batters to the plate in a four-run first inning and broke open the game with a five-run eighth.
Cruz, who hit a game-winning sacrifice fly on Wednesday, capped the four-run first with his eight homer of the season off Brian Matusz. He finished 4-for-5 and scored three runs.
Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, David Murphy and rookie Justin Soak each drove in runs for Texas, which has won four straight.
Treanor’s three-run homer capped the five-run eighth.
Corey Patterson drove in a pair of runs for the Orioles, who cut the lead to 13-7 with a pair of runs in the ninth. Closer Neftali Feliz relieved Guillermo Moscoso and got Miguel Tejada to pop out with the bases loaded to end it.
The Rangers’ outburst allowed Scott Feldman (2-4) to record his first win since April 11, despite not being very sharp. The right-hander allowed four runs and 12 hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked one.
Matusz (2-4) was roughed up for seven runs and eight hits in 2 1/3 innings.
