Michael Young belted a grand slam and David Murphy hit a three-run homer as the Texas Rangers secured an 11-6 triumph over the Seattle Mariners Wednesday night.
Nelson Cruz, Vladimir Guerrero and Mitch Moreland added RBIs for the first-place Rangers, who snapped a brief two-game skid.
Murphy’s homer gave Texas a 6-5 lead in the fifth and Young’s seventh-inning slam broke the game open.
Scott Feldman (6-9) earned the victory with two innings of two-hit relief after starter C.J. Wilson allowed four runs on six hits in three innings - his shortest outing of the season.
Trailing 5-2, the Rangers sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth, scoring five runs on six hits.
Seattle’s Franklin Gutierrez robbed Guerrero of a tying homer by leaping at the wall in center field, but following an intentional walk to Cruz, Murphy smacked his homer for the go-ahead runs. The Rangers would then add a run on Moreland’s single.
In losing his seventh consecutive decision, Seattle starter Doug Fister (3-8) was charged with seven runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Adam Moore hit a two-run homer and Jose Lopez had a two-run single for the Mariners.
