Jayson Werth belted a three-run home run and doubled twice and Roy Halladay pitched seven strong innings as the Philadelphia Phillies recorded a 7-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday afternoon.

Raul Ibanez launched a solo shot, Ryan Howard had a two-run single and Carlos Ruiz added an RBI single for Philadelphia, which belted out 14 hits en route to its fifth win in its last six games.

The offensive explosion was more than enough for Halladay (6-1). The 32-year-old right-hander allowed two runs and seven hits while striking out nine.

Chad Durbin and Danys Baez pitched a hitless eighth and ninth inning, respectively, to preserve the victory for the Phillies.

Kyle Lohse (0-2) was not as fortunate. The 31-year-old right-hander permitted five runs and nine hits in just four innings of work to take the loss.

Albert Pujols had an RBI single to extend his hitting streak to 11 games for St. Louis, which has scored three runs in its last three games - all losses.
