Rookie Victor Reyes went 4-for-5, hit his first career homer and matched a career high with three RBIs as the Detroit Tigers recorded an 11-7 victory over the New York Yankees on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Reyes helped the Tigers get a split the four-game series by getting a hit in four straight at-bats and recorded the most productive showing of his 82-game career after not starting the previous three games of the series.

The 23-year-old right fielder hit a double down the left-field line in the second that forged a 2-2 tie. In his second at-bat, Reyes lined a go-ahead double to left during a four-run fifth fourth off Lance Lynn (8-10).

Reyes then gave the Tigers an 8-3 lead by slamming a 2-0 fastball from Sonny Gray into the second deck in right field with one out in the sixth.

Niko Goodrum hit an RBI single in the first inning, and JaCoby Jones followed Reyes' second hit with a two-run double to left in the fourth. In the ninth, Ronny Rodriguez added a two-run single and Dawel Lugo had an RBI single off Stephen Tarpley.

Nicholas Castellanos capped the five-run fourth by driving Tommy Kahnle's first-pitch breaking ball into the left-field seats. It was his 20th homer, marking his second season to reach 20 homers.

Given the run support, Matthew Boyd (9-12) allowed three runs on five hits in six innings. He improved to 3-9 on the road and won for the fifth time in his last eight starts.

After Alex Wilson tossed a scoreless seventh , Louis Coleman allowed an RBI single to Miguel Andujar and loaded the bases by walking Gleyber Torres.

Victor Alcantara allowed an RBI single to pinch-hitter Neil Walker but got pinch-hitter Greg Bird on a warning track fly ball to Reyes. Torres stroked a two-run single in the ninth off Shane Greene.

Aaron Hicks and Luke Voit hit solo homers for the Yankees, who finished 15-9 in a stretch of playing 16 of 24 games at home. Gary Sanchez was the designated hitter and added an RBI single in his second game back from his second disabled list stint due to a groin injury.

Slugger Giancarlo Stanton did not start for the first time since May 28, a span of 85 games. Stanton was not used as a pinch hitter in the eighth when the Yankees loaded the bases.

Lynn turned in his shortest start since joining the Yankees July 30. He was tagged for six runs on a season-high tying nine hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone watched the game from a suite while serving a one-game suspension for making contact with plate umpire Nic Lentz on Friday. The Yankees were managed by bench coach Josh Bard.
