Franmil Reyes, Hunter Renfroe and Ian Kinsler connected for solo homers, and Joey Lucchesi held Miami to one run on two hits over 6 1/3 innings Friday as the San Diego Padres opened a 10-game homestand with a 5-2 win over the Marlins.
Reyes and Renfroe connected off Marlins starter Caleb Smith (3-3). Kinsler homered in the seventh off Austin Brice.
As the second hitter in the bottom of the first, Reyes gave the Padres a quick 1-0 lead with his team-leading 16th homer of the season off a 2-2 slider from Smith. Reyes hit a 362-foot drive into the left field seats.
Renfroe made it 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth with his 15th homer, a 383-foot drive to left on a 2-2 changeup.
Meanwhile, Lucchesi (4-3) retired 16 of the first 17 hitters he faced before Rosell Herrera belted his second pinch-hit homer of the season with one out in the sixth.
The only other hit off Lucchesi was a one-out double by Miguel Rojas in the third. He issued one walk and struck out five.
Craig Stammen followed and had a strikeout in 1 2/3 perfect innings. After Phil Maton gave up hits to the first two batters in the ninth, Kirby Yates entered and picked up his 22nd save without a blown opportunity despite allowing an inherited runner to score.
The Padres scored twice off Brice in the seventh to extend their lead to 4-1. After Kinsler hit his seventh homer with one out to make it 3-1, Manuel Margot singled with two outs, stole second, moved to third on a throwing error by catcher Jorge Alfaro and scored on Wil Myers single.
San Diego scored again in the eighth off Jarlin Garcia. Eric Hosmer opened the inning with a single, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on Ty France's infield single and an error by first baseman Martin Prado.
Garrett Cooper and Brian Anderson opened the Marlins' ninth with back-to-back singles off Maton. Yates retired all three hitters he faced, with Cooper scoring on a groundout.
