Ezequiel Tovar had three hits and tied a career high with four RBIs, Brenton Doyle had two hits, and the Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 9-5 in Denver on Saturday.

Nolan Jones scored three runs and Karl Kauffmann (2-4) tossed four innings of relief and Gavin Hollowell earned his first save for Colorado (55-92), which took the first game of a split doubleheader.

LaMonte Wade Jr. homered and Thairo Estrada had four hits for San Francisco (75-73), which has dropped two straight to the Rockies after winning 16 of 17 from them dating to August 2022.

The Giants took the lead in the second inning against Rockies opener Brent Suter. Wade walked, Luis Matos was hit by a pitch and Brandon Crawford walked to load the bases. Blake Sabol doubled to give San Francisco a 2-0 lead.

The Giants added another run in the third when Estrada led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on two passed balls.

The Rockies rallied to tie it in the bottom of the inning. Harold Castro and Austin Wynns walked around a single by Doyle to load the bases with no outs. Nolan Jones grounded into a forceout at home and Tovar tripled to right-center field to clear the bases.

San Francisco starter Keaton Winn left after four innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out five.

Ryan Walker (4-3) took over in the fifth and quickly ran into trouble. With one out Jones walked, moved to third on Tovar's single and scored on Kris Bryant's single. Walker then walked Elehuris Montero and Hunter Goodman to drive in another run.

Ross Stripling came on and walked in another run before getting out of the inning down 6-3.

Colorado struck again in the sixth when Jones tripled with one out and scored on Tovar's single through a pulled-in infield.

The Rockies added two more in the seventh when Castro walked, Doyle singled and stole second and both scored on Wynns' single.

Wade hit a two-out solo homer in the eighth inning. It was his 15th.
