Nets 110, Pistons 105: Mason Plumlee had 21 points and 12 rebounds and sparked a fourth-quarter surge before Brooklyn withstood a furious rally from visiting Detroit.
Jarrett Jack filled in for injured Deron Williams (calf), collecting 15 points and 10 assists for the Nets, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Joe Johnson added 16 points, seven assists and four free throws in the final 13 seconds as Brooklyn won a game for the first time when yielding 100 points this season.
Andre Drummond had 18 points and 20 rebounds - 13 offensive - for the Pistons, who have lost four straight and 17 of 19. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led a late surge and finished with 20 points and five 3-pointers for Detroit.
Plumlee highlighted a 15-3 spurt with a pair of transition hoops off alley-oop feeds sandwiched between a half court flush before setting up two more hoops with a steal and offensive rebound that provided Brooklyn a 98-83 edge with 5 1/2 minutes left. Detroit closed within one with 9.8 ticks left with a furious rally highlighted by three 3-pointers from Caldwell-Pope and six points from Drummond, but Johnson drained two free throws and Caldwell-Pope's long 3-pointer from the left wing barely drew iron as the Nets prevailed.
Johnson opened the game with a 3-pointer, the Nets led 28-15 late in the first quarter and the closest Detroit got in the half was the final margin of 53-51 when Drummond capped the second quarter with a dunk. The Pistons got a 3-pointer from Brandon Jennings and an alley-oop dunk from Drummond to take their first lead, 56-54 just over a minute into the third, but a three-point play from Bojan Bogdanovic with 4:18 remaining in the quarter sparked a 10-2 run as the Nets regained control.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Nets shot 55 percent on a season-high tying 17 assists in the first half but led by just two. … Drummond's 13 offensive boards were the most in an NBA game since Washington's Andray Blatche grabbed 16 during the 2010-11 season. … This game began a stretch of five consecutive games – four at home – against teams with losing records for the Nets.
