Yale gave Steve Donahue a little payback, even if he isn't coaching in the Ivy League any more.
Austin Morgan scored 25 points and Yale shot lights out to top Boston College, 75-67, in a non-conference matchup at Conte Forum on Thursday.
Donahue came to Boston College from Cornell, where he got the best of the Bulldogs and the rest of the Ivy League for that matter, winning the last three league titles and guiding the Big Red to the Sweet 16 in last season's NCAA Tournament before moving on.
Behind Morgan and Porter Braswell, Yale (1-2) handed Donahue his first loss as coach of the Eagles (1-1).
Morgan scored 16 of his points in the first half to help lift the Bulldogs to a 30-25 lead. Yale came out and went on an 18-7 run in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the second half and were able to keep the Eagles at arms length down the stretch.
Reggie Jackson scored 30 points for Boston College, which pulled within 67-62 with 2:18 to play on two free throws by Corey Raji. But Braswell made six free throws in the final minute to clinch the win for Yale, which shot 50 percent from the field (26-of-52) and made 12 three pointers.
