Jacob Pullen finished with 16 points and Curtis Kelly added 13 as No. 4 Kansas State breezed to an 84-60 victory over Texas Southern on Friday.
Rodney McGruder chipped in 10 points for the Wildcats (5-1), who bounced back from a tough loss to No. 1 Duke earlier in the week.
Still steaming from the Duke loss, Kansas State came out of the gate on fire and led, 44-18, at the half behind eight points apiece from Pullen and McGruder. The Wildcats pushed it to as much as 70-31 after four straight points from Pullen with 7:55 left in the game before sitting the starters and taking their foot off the gas.
Lawrence Johnson-Danner scored 18 points for Texas Southern and Kevin Galloway added 15 and 10 assists.
Kansas State does not play a ranked team again until visiting Florida on December 18.
The Tigers (1-5) have played a strong early schedule, with another Big 12 school in Oklahoma to go along with both Oregon and Oregon State from the Pac-10 and mid-major powers Drake and Wichita State.
