Maryland opened its five-game homestand with an easy win Wednesday. The Terrapins beat UNC-Greensboro 99-56 at Comcast Center in College Park, Md. Maryland (7-3) has now won 15 consecutive games at home.
Sophomore center Jordan Williams led the Terrapins with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season and fourth consecutive. He entered the week tied with Morehead State’s Kenneth Faried for the most in the nation.
Of course, Wednesday was an all-around solid night offensively for the Terrapins. Starters Adrian Bowie and Cliff Tucker both reached double digits in scoring, while Terrell Stoglin came off the bench to provide 18 points.
The Spartans (0-8) received a team-high 18 from Kyle Randall and Aloysius Henry chipped in 11.
The rout was on early. The Terrapins jumped to a 10-4 lead just three minutes in, and carried a 49-31 lead into halftime. Maryland exited the break on a 15-4 run, ensuring the Spartans wouldn’t have a chance of getting back into the game.
