Derwin Kitchen scored 20 points, and Okaro White had 19 points and six rebounds off the bench to lead Florida State to a 70-62 victory over host Hawaii in the first round of the Diamond Head Classic at Honolulu on Thursday morning.
Florida State (10-2), which has won five straight, will meet Butler in the semifinals Thursday night, while Hawaii (7-3) plays Utah in the consolation bracket early Friday morning.
Butler defeated Utah 74-62 in the first round Wednesday.
Zane Johnson scored a game-high 24 points for Hawaii, which had a two-game winning streak snapped.
Chris Singleton had 12 rebounds for Florida State, which led by as many as 17 points and outrebounded Hawaii 44-27.
The teams combined to shoot 33.6 percent from the field and 56.5 percent from the free throw line.
The Seminoles went on a 13-0 run to take a 27-13 lead in the first half before the Warriors closed the gap to 33-25 at halftime.
Hawaii got as close as four points twice in the second half, the second time at 39-35, before Florida State went on an 8-0 run to take control for good.
