Marcus Denmon scored a game-high 27 points to give No. 12 Missouri its first Big 12 win of the season, 77-69 over visiting Nebraska Wednesday night.
Denmon tied his season-high point total, shooting 8 for 14 from the field, including 5 for 7 from the 3-point line. Missouri (15-2, 1-1 Big 12) overcame a lackluster shooting night by turning up the pressure on defense, grabbing 11 steals and hounding Nebraska into committing 16 turnovers.
Denmon paced Missouri early as the Tigers sprinted to an early 13-point lead in the first half. Nebraska clawed back, cutting the deficit to 44-41 on a Caleb Walker layup with 16:06 left in the game. The Cornhuskers were within four with less than a minute remaining, but Missouri used its defense to seal the win.
Missouri heads to No. 13 Texas A&M Saturday before returning home to host No. 20 Kansas State. The Cornhuskers’ Toney McCray scored 17 points to lead Nebraska (13-3, 1-1) which had its 11-game winning streak snapped.
