Brockeith Pane scored the go-ahead basket with 31 seconds left in the second overtime as No. 25 Utah State defeated Hawaii 89-84 on Saturday for its 23rd straight Western Athletic Conference victory.
Pane also made two free throws with 11 seconds left as the Aggies (20-2, 9-0) won their 14th straight game.
Brian Green led Utah State with 22 points, including a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left in the first overtime to make it 73-73. Green also scored the final four points of the game – all from the free-throw line.
Utah State has won six straight against Hawaii and 41 of its last 45 WAC games, including 11 straight on the road.
Zane Johnson had 25 points, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range, for the Warriors (12-9, 3-6), who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
The Aggies led 60-53 with 5:29 to go before Hawaii went on an 8-0 run, capped by a Bill Amis jumper with 2:11 remaining. The lead changed hands four times before Green’s basket with 38 seconds left in regulation made it 66-66. Amis missed a jumper with 6 seconds left.
Amis finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Tyler Newbold scored 17 points, and Brady Jardine had 13 points and nine rebounds for Utah State.
