Freshman Harrison Barnes scored a game-high 26 points as North Carolina pulled away for a 106-74 rout of Boston College on Tuesday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Tar Heels (16-5, 6-1 ACC) seized control with a 13-2 run that made it 35-22 with 6:21 remaining in the first half. An 8-0 spurt early in the second half extended the lead to 63-40 with 16:06 left, and the Eagles never got closer than 17 the rest of the way.
North Carolina shot 57.4 percent (39 of 68) from the floor, connecting on 11-of-21 3-point shots, and the Tar Heels also hit 17 of 20 from the foul line. Boston College, meanwhile, shot just 35.3 percent (24 of 68) from the field and committed 16 turnovers.
Tyler Zeller added 18 points for North Carolina. Joe Trapani finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds - nine offensive - for the Eagles (14-8, 4-4).
