John Flowers scored 15 points to lead five players in double figures as West Virginia snapped out of its offensive funk Saturday with an 82-71 victory over visiting DePaul, which lost its 25th consecutive Big East Conference game.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for West Virginia (16-8, 7-5 Big East), which enjoyed its highest point total since scoring 93 in a win over Providence Jan. 13. West Virginia had shot 38 percent and averaged 58 points per game in its last seven outings.

DePaul (6-18, 0-12) never led and is still searching for its first conference win since January 2010.

Joe Mazzulla and Deniz Kilicli scored 12 points apiece, while Darryl Bryant and Casey Mitchell added 11 each for the Mountaineers, who shot 53 percent from the field and connected on 80 percent from the free-throw line.

Brandon Young led DePaul with 14 points and Jimmy Drew added 13. Cleveland Melvin, the Blue Demons’ leading scorer (14.1) and top scoring freshman in the Big East, was held to nine points.
