Senior forward John Shurna scored the first six points in a 15-4 opening run and finished with 25 as Northwestern beat host Georgia Tech 76-60 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Tuesday.

The Wildcats (6-0) won their fourth straight in the event, improving to 6-7 all-time. The Yellow Jackets (4-3) fell to 4-8 in the Challenge.

Shurna, an All-American candidate who leads the Big Ten in scoring, drained a 3-pointer and converted a three-point play to give Northwestern an early cushion.

With the Wildcats leading 44-39 at the break, Shurna scored the first five points of the second half.

The Wildcats, who shot 55.4 percent, scored on a slew of back-door cuts against the aggressive Jackets.

Georgia Tech guard Jason Morris, who came in shooting 30 percent, kept the Jackets close with a 16-point first half and finished with 21 on 6-of-11 shooting.

Northwestern, aiming for its first NCAA Tournament bid, finished November 6-0 for the first time in school history.
