Roberto Nelson scored a season-high 21 points and made a career-best five 3-point baskets to help host Oregon State roll to a 95-53 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Tuesday.
Jared Cunningham had 16 points and five steals as the Beavers (7-2) rebounded from a dismal loss to Idaho three nights earlier to trounce the Flames (3-6).
Daniel Barnes and Greg Travis scored eight points apiece for Illinois-Chicago, which dropped to 0-5 on the road.
Nelson twice tallied nine straight Oregon State points while scoring in double figures for the fifth straight game.
The sophomore guard hit two 3-pointers during his first 9-0 spurt that saw Oregon State take an early 22-6 advantage with 12:27 left in the first half. Nelson later drilled three consecutive 3-pointers as the Beavers stretched their lead to 78-44 with 9:27 left.
Eric Moreland grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and Ahmad Starks and Devon Collier added 12 points apiece for Oregon State, which shot 57.9 percent from the field and was 8-of-15 from 3-point range. The Beavers led 45-21 at halftime.
Illinois-Chicago shot just 29.8 percent and was 5-of-22 from 3-point range. The Flames had outrebounded six of their first eight opponents, but Oregon State dominated the glass with a 45-26 margin.
