Tony Wroten led the way with 27 points and seven rebounds as Washington outlasted visiting California-Santa Barbara 87-80 on Friday.
Abdul Gaddy added 17 points and Terrence Ross collected 16 points and five rebounds for the Huskies (5-4), who snapped a three-game losing streak while extending their home non-conference winning streak to 33 games.
Washington led by as much as 77-67 after Ross hit a pair of free throws with 5:26 left before the Gauchos fought back with a 10-0 run over the next two minutes, knotting it at 77-77 on Orlando Johnson’s jumper.
Darnell Gant snapped Washington’s drought when he grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back, getting fouled on the way up. Gant hit the free throw to complete a three-point play and the Huskies sealed it at the line, hitting 8-of-12 free throws over the final 2:47.
UC Santa Barbara (5-3) shot 56 percent in the first half but could not keep up the pace, slumping to 38 percent after the break.
Johnson finished with 24 points and 10 boards to lead the Gauchos.
