Dexter Strickland and James Michael McAdoo led four players in double figures with 14 points apiece as No. 6 North Carolina jumped out strong and did not let up in a 99-49 demolition of visiting Nicholls State on Monday.
Tyler Zeller and John Henson each recorded seven points and 11 rebounds and sophomore guard Reggie Bullock posted his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Tar Heels (10-2), who have won four straight.
Coach Roy Williams was upset with his team after they allowed 50 points in the second half to Appalachian State on Saturday in a 97-82 victory. North Carolina made sure it would not displease its coach again on Monday, outscoring the Colonels 51-27 after the break to post its largest margin of victory this season.
The Tar Heels overwhelmed smaller Nicholls State, outrebounding it 68-34 and forcing 24 turnovers.
The one spot of concern for North Carolina was star swingman Harrison Barnes, who suffered through his second straight poor shooting game and finished with nine points on 4-of-12 shooting.
Williams game his starters plenty of rest in the second half and emptied his bench at the end, giving a total of 14 players at least one field goal attempt.
Bryan Hammond scored 15 points to lead the Colonels (4-8).
