Missouri will enter conference play undefeated for the first time since 1982. Missouri won at Old Dominion (6-7) in its first true road game of the season, 75-68.
No. 8 Missouri (13-0) didn’t lead for good until Marcus Denmon hit a 3-pointer with 1:02 remaining. After just two points in the first half, Denmon busted out of a recent slump with 17 points after the break. In the last two games against William and Mary and Illinois, Denmon (18.7 ppg) had a combined 15 points on 5-of-20 shooting.
Ricardo Ratliffe contributed a double-double in his return to his home state with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Missouri trailed at the half for the first time all season, 35-33, as Old Dominion was able to limit the Tigers fast-break opportunities. Old Dominion held Missouri well below its average of 87.1 points per game and outrebounded the undersized Tigers 41-31.
In the second half, Missouri hit five consecutive 3-pointers (three by Denmon) as part of a 20-7 run to give the Tigers a 53-44 lead. Kim English hit 3-of-4 3-pointers and finished with 16 points. Phil Pressey added 14 points and seven assists.
The Monarchs got 29 points from their bench, including 15 from Trian Iliadis. Fellow bench player Chris Cooper added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kent Bazemore led the team with 16 points.
Missouri is one of four unbeaten teams remaining in the country.
