Kyle Fogg scored 23 points and Nick Johnson added 19 as Arizona notched an 81-73 overtime victory over visiting Oregon State Thursday.
Brendon Lavender scored 18 points and hit five second-half 3-pointers as the Wildcats (12-5, 3-1 Pacific-12) defeated Oregon State at home for the 28th time in the last 29 meetings in Tucson.
Jared Cunningham scored 22 points and Ahmad Starks added 14 points for the Beavers (11-6, 1-4).
The Wildcats scored nine straight points to conclude the overtime and held Oregon State to just one point in the extra session. There was a benches-clearing altercation with 1:15 remaining in which Arizona’s Kyryl Natyazhko and Oregon State’s Joe Burton were ejected.
Starks scored Oregon State’s final 10 points of regulation, including an 18-footer with 28.4 seconds left to give the Beavers a 72-70 lead. Fogg’s driving hoop with 14.2 seconds left forced the overtime.
Arizona was 12-for-22 from 3-point range.
Oregon State led 44-39 with 13 minutes left before Lavender hit five 3-pointers during a 9½-minute stretch as Arizona took a 67-62 lead with3:30 to play. Starks then scored five straight points to tie the contest with1:55 remaining.
