Elston Turner, Khris Middleton and Naji Hibbert scored 12 points apiece, and Texas A&M put together an impressive defensive performance in a 67-54 victory over visiting Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon.
Point guard Dash Harris added 11 points and seven assists for the Aggies (10-6, 1-3 Big 12), who ended a five-game slide and won their first conference game after being projected as the co-favorites in the Big 12 prior to the season.
Jaye Crockett had a career-high 19 points off the bench for the Red Raiders (7-9, 0-4 Big 12), who hit only four field goals in the first half in falling behind 34-17 at the break.
Texas A&M, in fact, didn’t allow Texas Tech to hit a field goal until the 9:44 mark of the first half. Six minutes after that, the Aggies extended their early lead to 32-13 on a Hibbert 3-pointer with 3:20 remaining.
Texas A&M, which entered the game as the Big 12’s worst offensive team, topped 60 points for the first time since Dec. 17.
Texas Tech freshman Jordan Tolbert, the team’s leading scorer, finished with only five points on 1-of-5 shooting and has scored in single digits the last three games.
The Red Raiders' starters combined for only 14 points.
