Jordan Taylor scored 19 points Sunday as Wisconsin survived a long second-half field goal drought to edge visiting Nebraska 50-45.
Josh Gasser added 12 points for the Badgers (14-5, 3-3 Big Ten), who won their second straight game after a three-game slide.
Wisconsin, which improved to 161-14 at home under coach Bo Ryan, ended its two-game home losing streak despite going the final 7:13 without hitting a single field goal.
However, the Cornhuskers (9-8, 1-5) could not take advantage of the drought as they could only manage a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer from Bo Spencer until Dylan Talley drained a long 3-pointer with 27 seconds remaining to close the gap to 45-43.
But Taylor hit four of his final five free throws over the last 23 seconds to hold off the resilient Cornhuskers.
After a first half in which it recorded more turnovers (11) than baskets (nine), Wisconsin took an 11-point lead midway through the second half. Nebraska responded with eight unanswered points before going through its own offensive struggles, setting the stage for Wisconsin to close the game at the foul line.
Spencer scored 13 points to pace the Huskers, who shot just 35.2 percent from the field – the fourth time in six conference games they have shot less than 36 percent.
