Murray State remained the nation's only undefeated team as Donte Poole and Isaiah Canaan scored 18 points apiece to lead the No. 9 Racers to a 73-58 victory over visiting Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
The Racers (21-0, 9-0) have won 17 straight at home and have matched the best start in OVC history, set by Western Kentucky in 1953-54.
Murray State led from start to finish as Canaan scored the first five points. The Racers bolted to a 36-25 halftime lead and there was no letdown after intermission as the Racers hit Eastern Illinois with a 15-2 run to start the second half to extend its lead to 51-27 with 14:58 remaining.
Poole added a career-high six assists and combined with Canaan to shoot 13 for 21 from the field. Murray State shot 51 percent, topping the 50 percent mark for the first time in five games.
Senior forward Ivan Aska, Murray State's third leading scorer, returned to action after missing six games with a broken bone in his hand and scored eight points off the bench.
Murray State outrebounded the Panthers 38-23 as Ed Daniel hauled in a game-high 12.
Joey Miller scored 17 points for Eastern Illinois (9-11, 2-6), which has lost five straight.
