Royce White scored a game-high 22 points, including the game-winning jumper with 1.4 seconds left, as Iowa State rallied from 14 points down to defeat Kansas State 72-70 Tuesday at Hilton Coliseum.

White went 10 of 17 from the field and also grabbed eight rebounds for the Cyclones (16-6, 6-3 Big 12), who beat a team from the Sunflower State for the second time in four days. Iowa State knocked off then-No. 5 Kansas 72-64 on Saturday.

This one, much like previous Iowa State-Kansas State match-ups, came down to the very end.

Chris Babb tied the score at 70 after making the first of two free throws with 49 seconds left. Then, after missing the second, the Cyclones controlled the rebound and later had a chance to hold for the final shot when the ball deflected off a Kansas State defender.

After dribbling 15 seconds off the clock, White drove toward the right baseline before swishing a 6-footer.

The Wildcats (15-6, 4-5 Big 12) got the ball to midcourt after the inbound but couldn’t get a final shot off as time expired.

Allen finished with 15 points and Scott Christopherson added 11 for the Cyclones, who trailed 36-29 at the half and 53-39 with 14:27 left. Iowa State got back in the game with an 19-7 run over the next seven minutes that helped them pull within 60-58.

Kansas State, which won the previous four meetings in Ames by a combined 13 points, were led by Thomas Gipson’s 13-point, seven-rebound effort. Jamar Samuels, Rodney McGruder and Martavious Irving each had 11 points, and Victor Ojeleye added a game-high 10 rebounds.

Iowa State shot 51 percent from the field and made 5 of 11 3-point attempts. With the win, the Cyclones improved to 6-3 in Big 12 play, a full two games ahead of fifth-place Kansas State and Oklahoma State.
