Pierre Jackson scored 14 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 17 seconds left, and No. 6 Baylor survived a second-half scare from host Texas A&M in a 63-60 victory on Wednesday.
The Bears (20-2, 7-2 Big 12), who led 36-25 at halftime and by as many as 13 points after the break, needed a last-gasp comeback to secure their third straight win.
Baylor trailed 60-58 when Texas A&M’s David Loubeau scored on a jump hook inside with 29 seconds remaining, but Jackson nailed a 3-pointer from the top of the key on the next possession to give his team the lead.
The Aggies (12-9, 3-6 Big 12) had one last chance to win the game, but Elston Turner misfired on a wild 3-pointer from the corner, and Jackson snared the rebound and then hit two free throws to seal the win.
Loubeau finished with a game-high 16 points for Texas A&M, which is still in search of its first big win of the season.
Perry Jones III scored 15 points, and Quincy Miller had nine points and 11 rebounds for Baylor, which remained a half-game back of first-place Kansas in the Big 12.
After Baylor saw its 11-point halftime advantage quickly evaporate and turn into a 49-44 deficit midway through the second half, the Bears went on a quick 7-0 spurt and regained a 51-49 lead on A.J. Walton's steal and fast-break dunk with 6:55 remaining.
