Laurent Rivard had a game-high 16 points as No. 23 Harvard remained unbeaten at home with a 71-60 victory over Cornell on Friday.
The Crimson (19-2, 5-0 Ivy) extended their home win streak to 24 games. Kyle Casey finished with 13 points and six rebounds, and Keith Wright added nine points and seven rebounds for Harvard, which defeated the Big Red for the third consecutive time.
The Crimson, who led 38-24 at the half, matched their best Ivy League start since 1980-81.
Cornell (7-12, 2-3) scored the first five points of the second half to cut its deficit to nine, but Harvard quickly extended the lead back to double digits before taking a 56-35 lead on Steve Moundou-Missi’s layup with 8:22 left.
The Big Red had no answer for Harvard’s perimeter defense and made only 6 of 21 3-point attempts, including a 2-of-10 effort in the first half.
Johnathan Gray finished with 11 points and Chris Wroblewski added nine for the Big Red, who fell to 5-67 all-time against ranked opponents.
Moundou-Missi had nine points off the bench for Harvard, which held an opponent to 60 points or less for the 14th time.
