SETON HALL 59, RUTGERS 54: Jordan Theodore broke out of a shooting slump to score a game-high 24 points and Herb Pope recorded his 12th double-double of the season as the visiting Pirates snapped a six-game losing streak.
Theodore, who shot less than 27 percent during the slide, was 8 for 16 from the field and 7 for 8 from the free throw line. Pope, the Pirates’ leading scorer who missed his last game with bruised ribs, had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Aaron Cosby (nine points) drained a pair of 3-pointers down the stretch, including one that gave Seton Hall (16-8, 5-7 Big East) a 56-51 lead with 42.8 seconds left.
Mike Poole matched his career high with 14 points for Rutgers (12-13, 4-8) and Eli Carter added 13.
Seton Hall led by as much as six points in the opening 20 minutes, but Rutgers finished with a 9-2 run for a 28-26 halftime advantage. Carter had nine points and Poole was 4 for 4 from the field for eight in the first half.
Theodore (11 points) and Pope (seven) were 7 for 9 from the field in the first half.
