N.C. STATE 61, GEORGIA TECH 52: Senior guard C.J. Williams scored 15 points, including a key four-point play, as N.C. State kept its NCAA tournament hopes alive with a revenge win in Atlanta.
N.C. State (18-7, 7-3 ACC) avenged an 11-point home loss to Tech a month ago and prevented the Yellow Jackets from sweeping the regular-season series for the first time since 1996.
Fouled while draining a corner 3, Williams’ four-point play sparked N.C. State’s 11-5 spurt to start the second half. The Wolfpack pushed the lead to 11 after that and never let Tech get closer than four points.
Tech (9-15, 2-8 ACC) shot 1 of 17 from 3-point range and lost for the seventh time in eight games. Kammeon Holsey scored 17 points, Glen Rice Jr. 15.
C.J. Leslie was a big factor inside for N.C. State, getting 13 points and 11 rebounds.
GAME NOTEBOOK: N.C. State plays the ACC’s top three teams in a six-day span starting Feb. 16. … Wolfpack F Scott Wood missed three consecutive free throws after making 65 straight dating to last season. … Tech fell to 1-6 at Philips Arena – the Jackets’ makeshift home while construction continues on the team’s on-campus arena.
