The Highlanders (2-4) played from behind nearly the entire game, falling into a quick 13-3 hole and trailed by as much as 56-39 late in the second half. Martin fueled a 12-0 run for the Highlanders to get back into the game, scoring nine straight during that stretch.
UC Riverside tied it three times in the final four minutes before going ahead for good on Martin’s inside bucket. The Highlanders leading scorer finished with 14 points. UC Riverside got 13 from Harrison Gaines off the bench and 10 points from Elliott Berry.
