After the Delta Devils (21-13) led by 16 with 4:52 to play, the Hilltoppers (16-18) began their improbable push, scoring 15 unanswered points as part of a 17-1 run to tie the game with 1:14 to play.

The win sets up a meeting with No. 1 Kentucky in the Round of 64’s South Regional for the Hilltoppers, who have now won seven straight games overall.
Mississippi Valley State looked like a lock for its first NCAA tournament win in school history before a collapse that featured ten consecutive possessions ending in turnovers.
The Delta Devils led 23-19 at halftime after a sloppy first 20 minutes from both squads. Western Kentucky turned the ball over 28 times to MVSU’s 17 but made up for that blemish by dominating on the boards, outrebounding the Hilltoppers 60-32.
Price finished with 11 points for Western Kentucky and George Fant grabbed 11 rebounds. Kevin Burwell paced the Delta Devils with 20 points.
