Vermont 71, Lamar 59: Freshman Four McGlynn came off the bench to score 18 points and pace the Catamounts in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
The 16th-seeded Catamounts (24-11) advance in the Mideast Regional to face No. 1 seed North Carolina on Friday in the second round.
McGlynn hit three 3-pointers for Vermont, which has won 15 of its last 16 games.
Vermont also got 11 points from Matt Glass and 10 from Sandro Carissimo, while Brian Voelkel had a game-high 12 rebounds and seven assists.
Lamar (23-12) had three players in double figures: Mike James and Devon Lamb with 16 and Anthony Miles with 14. Stan Brown had a game-high 13 rebounds.
Vermont took the lead for good with an 11-0 run midway in the first half that gave the Catamounts a 22-12 lead. Vermont led 30-21 at halftime and Lamar never got closer than seven points in the second half.
