Connecticut 77, Wake Forest 71: Ryan Boatright had 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists to help the Huskies hold off the Demon Deacons in the first round of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam.

Shabazz Napier scored eight of his 16 points during a 10-0 run that gave Connecticut a 59-53 lead, and the Huskies (3-0) didn't trail again as they continued their impressive start under first-year coach Kevin Ollie.

Codi Miller-McIntyre led Wake Forest with 21 points, while C.J. Harris added 17 points and Travis McKie chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds.

Wake Forest (1-1) had six players score in double figures in a season-opening win over Radford, but the Demon Deacons got just six points from their bench Friday, while UConn's reserves combined for 25.

Enosch Wolf added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench and DeAndre Daniels scored 12 points for Connecticut, which won this tournament in 2008.
