No. 8 Syracuse 88, Wagner 57: Brandon Triche scored a game-high 21 points as the host Orange won their eighth straight home opener in their first matchup against the Seahawks in 20 years.
Baye Keita tallied a career-high 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting and James Southerland added 15 more for Syracuse (2-0), which shot 50 percent from the field and converted 4 of 9 second-half 3-pointers to pull away.
Jonathon Williams led Wagner (0-2) with 14 points and nine rebounds while Kenneth Ortiz chipped in with 11 points.
After a Marcus Burton free throw gave Wagner a 19-18 lead midway through the first half, Syracuse went on an 18-4 run behind six points from Triche to enter halftime with a 36-23 advantage.
Michael Carter-Williams; three-point play pushed the lead to 46-26 just 2:40 into the second half as the Orange lead ballooned as high as 34 when Jerami Grant’s free throw capped a 13-0 stretch with 2:29 remaining.
