McNeese State 80, Texas Tech 75: Reserves Craig McFerrin and Ledrick Eackles combined for 29 points and keyed a decisive 16-6 second-half run as the Cowboys rallied to stun the host Red Raiders and claim their first-ever win over a Big 12 Conference opponent.
McFerrin finished with a team-high 16 points and Eackles scored all 13 of his points in the second half as the two came off the bench to play in their second game of the year. McNeese State (6-3) ran its win streak to five while also notching its first road victory.
Kevin Hardy tallied 15 points for the Cowboys, including a pair of free throws with seven seconds remaining to give McNeese State a 78-73 lead. Eackles made two more foul shots with four seconds left to seal it for the Cowboys.
Texas Tech (5-2) led 58-56 with 7:25 remaining before Eackles scored five straight points to put McNeese State ahead for good. The Cowboys trailed 46-36 with 16:18 remaining, but the Red Raiders could never pull away.
Jaye Crockett led Texas Tech with game highs of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
GAME NOTEBOOK: McNeese State shot a season-best 55.9 percent from the field. ... Desharick Guidry's streak of five straight double-doubles came to an end, even though he led the Cowboys with seven boards to go with 12 points. ... Texas Tech's Josh Gray, a native of Lake Charles, La. – the home of McNeese State – scored a career-high 15 points.
