Seton Hall 79, Longwood 61: Fuquan Edwin scored 19 points and Brian Oliver matched his season high with 13 as the host Pirates won easily.
Edwin, who came in averaging 23 points in the previous three games, scored 12 points in the first half as Seton Hall (9-2) built a 46-25 lead. With the reserves playing most of the second half, freshman forward Kevin Johnson added a season-high 11 points for the Pirates.
Jeylani Dublin had 13 points and seven rebounds while David Robinson contributed 10 points for the Lancers (3-9).
Freshman forward Michael Kessens, Longwood’s second-leading scorer coming into the game, picked up two fouls in the first 10 minutes and his third with 3:27 left in first half. He finished with four points on 1-for-5 shooting.
Seton Hall moved ahead by double figures thanks to a 12-0 run that gave it a 35-18 lead with 4:30 remaining in the first half. The Lancers never cut the deficit back to single digits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Seton Hall senior SG Kyle Smyth continues to struggle with his shooting. He missed both 3-point attempts and is 0-for-8 from that distance in the last three games with just two points. …. After getting points from just four players in Sunday’s victory against North Carolina A&T, nine different players scored for the Pirates. … Seton Hall improved its record to 58-16 in games played prior to Christmas the last seven seasons.
