Oklahoma 72, No. 5 Kansas 66: Romero Osby scored 17 points and Steven Pledger added 15 as the host Sooners snapped a 10-game losing streak against the Jayhawks in a Big 12 contest.
Cameron Clark added 10 points and Oklahoma (15-7, 6-4 Big 12) halted a two-game slide and handed Kansas its first three-game losing skid since the 2004-05 campaign.
Ben McLemore scored 15 points and Jeff Withey added 14 for the Jayhawks (19-4, 7-3), who were unable to bounce back from a horrific loss at Texas Christian on Wednesday.
Kansas trailed by nine points with less than nine minutes remaining and pulled within 67-64 on a 3-pointer by Elijah Johnson with 37.4 seconds left. McLemore’s tip with 15.7 seconds left cut the deficit to two before Oklahoma’s Je’lon Hornbeak and Clark each hit two free throws for the final margin.
Oklahoma shot 55.6 percent in the first half en route to a 38-34 halftime edge. The Sooners used a 10-2 second-half surge to take a 57-48 lead on a basket by Clark with 9:25 to play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Withey had one blocked shot to tie Greg Ostertag (258 from 1991-95) for most in Kansas history. … Oklahoma hadn’t defeated Kansas since a 71-63 victory on Feb. 21, 2005. … The Jayhawks’ last three-game skid occurred from Feb. 14-21, 2005 with the losses coming against Texas Tech, Iowa State and the Sooners.
