Northwestern 63, Purdue 60 (2 OT): Drew Crawford scored 19 points and blocked a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer and the host Wildcats rallied from seven points down late in the game to notch the win in double overtime.
Tre Demps also scored 19 points and hit several big shots down the stretch as Northwestern (10-10, 3-4 Big Ten) won its second straight game. JerShon Cobb added 15 points for the Wildcats, who held Purdue to just one field goal for a stretch of over 20 minutes spanning the second half and the extra sessions.
A.J. Hammons led Purdue (13-6, 3-3) with 17 points, but the Boilermakers failed in their quest to win a fourth straight Big Ten game for the first time since 2011. Terone Johnson added 16 points and Ronnie Johnson had a dozen for Purdue, which shot just 27.6 percent from the field.
Crawford hit a jumper to start the second overtime giving Northwestern its first lead of the game. He and Demps, who had tied the game with a 3-pointer in the first overtime, both scored four points in the final period.
Northwestern tied the game at 46 with 31 seconds left in regulation on a floater in the lane by Cobb. Terone Johnson had a chance to win it for Purdue but missed a twisting jumper in the paint sending the game into overtime.
GAME NOTEBOOK: A group of Northwestern fans painted "Stand with Purdue" on their chests to honor the victim of a fatal shooting on the Boilermakers' campus Tuesday. ...The Wildcats played without G Dave Sobolewski, who missed his third straight game with a concussion....Crawford tied school records for games played (130) and games started (129).
