Robert Jennings and Jamyron Keller led five Oklahoma State players in double-figure scoring as the Cowboys defeated host Seton Hall 85-76 on Sunday in Newark, N.J.
The Cowboys (6-2) started 14 for 19 from the floor on their way to 56.9 percent shooting overall. They led by 19 points at halftime and by 25 early in the second half but had to fight off a more effective Seton Hall attack late in the second half.
Jennings and Keller scored 14 points apiece while Abou Ousmane and Brandon Newman each added 13 to lead Oklahoma State. Arturo Dean chipped in 11.
Isaiah Coleman scored a game-high 18 points, Scotty Middleton had 16 on 4-for-4 shooting from deep and Dylan Addae-Wusu put up 10 for Seton Hall (5-5). Garwey Dual finished with nine points and nine assists.
The Pirates missed 12 of 19 shots from the arc and eight of their 23 at the foul line.
Seton Hall's largest deficit was 55-30 at the 16:49 mark of the second half. The Pirates scored the next eight points to starting digging out of their hole.
It appeared the game was on ice when Dean banked in a 3-pointer late in the shot clock for a 71-55 Oklahoma State lead at the 5:42 mark. Pat Suemnick made it a 16-point game a minute later, but the Pirates ripped off another 8-0 run.
Middleton's fourth triple of the day with 57 seconds to go brought the Pirates within single digits for the first time since the eighth minute of the game. Dean, Khalil Brantley (4-for-4) and Keller made eight free throws without a miss in the final 40 seconds to seal the deal.
Oklahoma State made its first four shots and Seton Hall couldn't keep up for long. After Addae-Wusu hit a 3-pointer to cut it to 12-9, the Cowboys scored the game's next 15 points, including three fastbreak buckets. Keller's transition dunk made it 27-9 at the 10:25 mark of the half.
Middleton finally ended the Pirates' drought by making an open alley-oop layup.
Ousmane made his first four attempts from the floor, the last of them a 3-pointer to put the Cowboys ahead 33-15. Ousmane and Jennings added fastbreak buckets, Jennings' dunk giving Oklahoma State its largest lead of the half at 42-20 before the Pirates brought it to 45-26 at the break.
