David Pastrnak scored at 3:07 of overtime as the Boston Bruins came back from a one-goal, second-period deficit to defeat the visiting Los Angeles Kings 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Pastrnak cut to the net and slid home a give-and-go pass from defenseman Mason Lohrei to deliver Boston's second straight victory and first of the season in overtime.
The star Bruins winger has now scored in each of the first three games this season.
It was the seventh meeting in a row between the teams at TD Garden that required overtime, but only the second Boston win in that span.
Elias Lindholm also scored for Boston, becoming the third Bruin in the past 15 years to register a point in at least his first three games with the team.
Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman made 33 saves, including 10 on opposing power plays.
Trevor Moore scored and Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves for the Kings, who won their season opener on Thursday at Buffalo.
Both teams were 0-for-5 on the man advantage.
Los Angeles had a 34-25 edge in shots. Boston triggered three of six combined in the extra period.
After a scoreless first period for both teams, Swayman made a series of strong saves just before the visitors took a 1-0 lead at the 5:22 mark.
Moore scored the Kings' opening tally on a bit of a broken play in front, slotting Phillip Danault's cross-ice pass through net-front traffic past an outstretched Swayman.
Boston grabbed the momentum back late in the second, tying the score on Lindholm's rebound goal with 3:10 remaining. The Boston newcomer picked up the carom of a Brad Marchand shot off Kuemper's pads and slid it five-hole.
The score nearly flipped the Bruins' way after a Lohrei shot hit the crossbar in the waning seconds of the second, but the score remained 1-1 through the end of regulation.
Swayman made a key save at the end of a late Los Angeles power play, denying Moore's one-time shot after a Danault pass with 4:44 to play. Boston was also unsuccessful on a power play in the final three minutes of the third.
