LAS VEGAS -- Marc-Andre Fleury is no stranger to shutouts but Saturday night's 3-0 blanking of Washington at T-Mobile Arena had extra meaning.

Fleury stopped 26 shots to pick up his first shutout in a Vegas Golden Knights uniform and the 45th of his distinguished career in helping lead the Golden Knights into the Christmas break with an impressive four-game winning streak that also includes wins over Eastern Conference heavyweights Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh.

"It's all about the win but for a goalie but it's always nice when you get a shutout," Fleury, who missed two months earlier this season with a concussion, said. "It doesn't mean you played a perfect game but it's fun not to let any in."

"He's been real good," Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said of Fleury. "We know what we got when we got him in the expansion draft. You know that he's a first-class goaltender. He played a real good solid game tonight. ... He made some real key saves at key times to keep it 3-0."

It was the eighth win in nine games (8-0-1) for the Golden Knights (23-9-2) who also improved to 15-2-1 on their home ice, tied with Tampa Bay for most home wins in the NHL.

Alex Tuch, Oscar Lindberg and William Karlsson all scored first-period goals for Vegas. Braden Holtby had 25 saves for Washington (22-13-2), which fell out of first place in the Metropolitan Division.

Vegas, playing for the first time since a dramatic 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay on Tuesday, peppered Holtby with 15 shots in the first 11 minutes, jumping on a Washington team playing the second game of a back-to-back that began with a 3-2 overtime loss at Arizona on Friday night.

"We lost it really in the first 10 (minutes)," Washington coach Barry Trotz said. "They did what they needed to do. They needed to jump on us early. They did, and we weren't able to get our feet back under us to get close enough."

Tuch gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 2:37, jamming in a rebound of a Brandan Leipsic shot into a wide-open right side of the net for his eighth goal.

"I thought our first period was one of the best we've had all year," Tuch said. "We wanted to come out hard. We knew that they were in Phoenix last night and flying in. We know that feeling. It's kind of hard to come off the plane and get ready for a back-to-back game, especially right before Christmas. We wanted to come out flying."

Lindberg made it 2-0 at 7:39 with a blast over Holtby's glove side from the slot off a nice pass from right wing Tomas Nosek, who started the play by digging the puck in his own end and then carrying it up the right side into the Washington zone.

Karlsson capped the first-period scoring blitz with a one-timer off a crossing pass from Riley Smith at 14:55.

Trotz was denied for the second straight night a chance to tie Lindy Ruff (736) for fifth place on the NHL's all-time coaching wins list.

NOTES: Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper, the 2015 National League MVP and a Las Vegas native wearing an Alex Tuch jersey, dropped the ceremonial first puck for Alex Ovechkin of the Capitals and James Neal of the Golden Knights. "Oh, wow," Tuch said about seeing Harper wearing his jersey out to center ice. "I first met him maybe a month ago. I can't believe it. Pretty surreal. He's one of the best baseball players. It's pretty cool honestly." ... Cody Eakin's assist on Tuch's first period goal, was the 100th of his career. ... D Taylor Chorney, RW Alex Chiasson and LW Nathan Walker were scratched by Washington while D Brad Hunt and C Ryan Carpenter were scratched by the Golden Knights. ... Washington returns to action after the Christmas break with a Dec. 27 game at the New York Rangers. Vegas begins a back-to-back southern California road swing that same night at Anaheim. ... Washington had a streak of having scored a goal in the third period in 10 straight games snapped. ... Vegas has not lost a game in regulation time since Dec. 1.
