Preview Roundups
April 12, 2017
Tampa Bay at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
Slugger Aaron Judge must become a major part of the offense if the New York Yankees are to contend in the American League East and he has been productive the last two days with a pair of homers and three RBIs. Judge looks to stay hot when the Yankees go after their third straight win Wednesday afternoon against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays in the middle contest of a three-game set.
Minnesota at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers host the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday afternoon in the middle contest of their three-game series and they hope to keep their rare early season power barrage going. Detroit has homered in the first seven games of a season for the second time in four years after not doing so since 1913 as James McCann delivered a two-run shot in Tuesday's 2-1 victory for his third homer of the campaign after belting a career-high 12 in 2016.
San Diego at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
After using their power to earn a split of the first two games of the series, the Colorado Rockies look to make it two wins in a row when they host the San Diego Padres in the finale on Wednesday afternoon. Colorado dropped a 5-3 decision in the opener before belting three home runs en route to a 3-2 triumph on Tuesday.
St. Louis at Washington 4:05 PM ET

The St. Louis Cardinals figured to be a World Series contender, but they’re off to a rough start and in danger of being swept in their first road series of the season. The Cardinals, who have dropped six of their first eight games, will try to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the host Washington Nationals on Wednesday.

Chi. White Sox at Cleveland 6:10 PM ET
Michael Brantley played just 11 games last season due to a shoulder injury and could only watch as his Cleveland Indians made it all the way to the World Series, but he is already making an impact in 2017. Brantley knocked in the winning run in the home opener and looks to carry over the momentum into the middle contest of a three-game series Wednesday against the visiting Chicago White Sox.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds attempt to complete a sweep when they visit the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday for the finale of their three-game series. Cincinnati had its way with Pittsburgh over the first two contests, outscoring the Pirates 13-3 after registering a 6-2 victory on Tuesday.
NY Mets at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Yoenis Cespedes started his season with only four hits in his first seven games, but finally busted loose while pushing the New York Mets to the verge of a series sweep entering Wednesday’s finale at the Philadelphia Phillies. Cespedes homered three times in his first four at-bats of Tuesday’s 14-4 blowout victory, finishing the night 4-for-6 with three runs scored and five RBIs as the Mets won their third straight.
Milwaukee at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
A return home and a matchup with a lesser National League squad did nothing to fix the issues for the Toronto Blue Jays. They will try to snap a four-game slide Wednesday night in the finale of a two-game series with the visiting Milwaukee Brewers.
Atlanta at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Marcell Ozuna battled inconsistency through his first four seasons, but he enters the Miami Marlins’ series finale at home Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves after the biggest offensive game of his career. The left fielder belted two homers and drove home a career-high six runs as the Marlins took the series opener 8-4 for their fourth win in five games.
Baltimore at Boston 7:10 PM ET
Dustin Pedroia sometimes can be the forgotten man atop a Boston Red Sox lineup filled with a wealth of young talent, but opponents can't help but remember how productive he has been recently at Fenway Park. The four-time All-Star hopes to continue his torrid hitting at home Wednesday, when the Red Sox attempt to complete a sweep of their two-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.
LA Dodgers at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET

The celebration that waited more than a century continues Wednesday at Wrigley Field, where the Chicago Cubs will receive their World Series rings before the second of a three-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cubs raised their championship banners before a 3-2 series-opening win on Anthony Rizzo’s game-winning single in the ninth inning.

Oakland at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics hope to get another strong pitching performance as they go after an eighth consecutive victory in the series against the host Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. Jharel Cotton stymied the Royals for a 2-0 victory in the first of the three-game set Monday and Oakland has allowed four runs in their four wins while yielding 30 in four losses.
Texas at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels quickly are making a habit of late-inning comebacks, while the Texas Rangers officially are having bullpen issues. The Angels look to remain hot as they continue their three-game series Wednesday against the visiting Rangers, who squandered a five-run lead and dropped a 6-5 decision in 10 innings a day earlier.
Houston at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
At least from the Seattle Mariners' perspective, perhaps the best part of playing seven of their first 10 games against the Houston Astros is the fact they only will have to see George Springer 12 more times - at the most - over their final 152 contests. The major-league home run leader looks to continue his early domination of an American League West rival Wednesday, when the Astros visit the Mariners for the rubber match of their three-game series.
Arizona at San Francisco 10:15 PM ET
Matt Cain’s tenuous spot in the starting rotation could be in the balance Wednesday as the San Francisco Giants host the Arizona Diamondbacks for the rubber match of their three-game series. The veteran hurler struggled in his season debut and could use a strong outing against Arizona, which rolled to a 4-1 victory on Tuesday behind Jake Lamb’s three-run triple.
