Preview Roundups
December 21, 2017
Chicago at Cleveland 7:00 PM ET
The Cleveland Cavaliers put an 11-game home winning streak on the line against perhaps the only team hotter than them in the Eastern Conference when they host the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. The Cavaliers had a five-game run snapped Tuesday in Milwaukee, where they suffered a 119-116 defeat, but the squad has claimed 18 of 20 overall and felt good about a fourth-quarter comeback that made it tight in the end.
Toronto at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia 76ers are moving in the wrong direction and it won’t be easy to turn things around fast as they host the red-hot Toronto Raptors on Thursday night in the first of a home-and-home set. The 76ers, who visit Toronto on Saturday, have lost three in a row and seven of eight after a 101-95 setback against Sacramento on Tuesday without star center Joel Embiid (back) for the second straight night.
Boston at New York 8:00 PM ET
The New York Knicks expect to have star forward Kristaps Porzingis back in the lineup when they make a pit stop in Madison Square Garden on Thursday to host the Boston Celtics. Porzingis has missed the last two games due to knee soreness, and the Knicks dropped to 1-5 without the 7-3 Latvian when they fell 109-91 at Charlotte on Monday.
Memphis at Phoenix 9:00 PM ET
The Phoenix Suns will try to follow up a winning road trip with a rare victory at home when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday. The Suns, who have lost five in a row at home and are 4-12 in the desert overall, won the first two games of their three-game trip before falling at the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.
San Antonio at Utah 10:30 PM ET
The Utah Jazz made the playoffs for the first time in five seasons in 2016-17 and a return trip the postseason is not looking like a strong probability the last few weeks. The Jazz have dropped seven of their last eight games after being thumped by 28 points last time out and things don’t get any easier Thursday night when they host the surging San Antonio Spurs.
