Preview Roundups
February 13, 2018
Calgary at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames are again showing why they are one of the league's best teams away from home, but they will face a pair of rugged tests against two of the league's top teams to wind up their six-game road trip. The Flames have won three of four entering Tuesday's matchup at the Boston Bruins but will be without their No. 1 goaltender.
Tampa Bay at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
Nikita Kucherov looks to extend his goal-scoring streak to four games when the NHL-best Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday in a battle between first- and last-place teams in the Atlantic Division. The 24-year-old Kucherov, who has recorded a league-leading 71 points, reached 30 goals for the third straight season with his third-period tally in the Lightning’s 4-3 setback at Toronto on Monday.
Columbus at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders are each just one point out of the basement in the Metropolitan Division, but both teams also are one point from the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The division rivals meet for the fourth time this season when the Islanders host the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
New Jersey at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers have ascended into third place in the congested Metropolitan Division on the wings of their four-game winning streak in addition to a four-game skid by the New Jersey Devils. The Flyers aim to continue their victorious ways and add to the misfortune of the Devils on Tuesday when the rivals collide at Wells Fargo Center.
Ottawa at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins vie for their ninth consecutive win at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday when they open a three-game homestand against the Ottawa Senators. The Penguins' home arena also has been a house of horrors for the Senators, who have dropped nine of 11 meetings since the building opened in 2010 in addition to a double-overtime thriller in last spring's Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final.
Los Angeles at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes sit in playoff position with about two months left and look to finish their monster eight-game homestand in a positive fashion when the Los Angeles Kings pay a visit Tuesday night. The Hurricanes have won the last two contests and are 4-2-1 during their stretch at PNC Arena as they try to snap an eight-year postseason drought for the franchise.
Anaheim at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks continue to spin their wheels in pursuit of a playoff berth as they begin a crucial four-game road trip Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings. Anaheim earned a point in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss at home to San Jose, allowing the Sharks to tie the game with 53.7 seconds left in regulation and ultimately coughing up two points to a Pacific Division rival.
St. Louis at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne silenced the St. Louis Blues earlier this season by recording a pair of victories after turning aside 63 of the 64 shots he faced. Rinne aims to keep the Blues under his thumb as the first-place Predators host their Central Division rival for the first time this season when they open a four-game homestand on Tuesday.
NY Rangers at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers have withstood a horrendous stretch and still are just two points out of the final playoff slot in the Eastern Conference even though they sit at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division. New York goes for its third consecutive victory when it visits the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.
Washington at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
Alex Ovechkin is back in a familiar place, leading the NHL in goals as the Washington Capitals open a four-game road trip on Tuesday against the suddenly struggling Winnipeg Jets. Ovechkin, who led the league in goals scored six times in a nine-season span before finishing with just 33 goals a season ago, already has reached that mark in 2017-18 to help the Capitals rise to first place in the Metropolitan Division.
Chicago at Vegas 10:00 PM ET
The Western Conference-best Vegas Golden Knights look to put an end to their first skid at T-Mobile Arena when they continue their seven-game homestand Tuesday against the struggling Chicago Blackhawks. Vegas, which is one point ahead of Central Division-leading Nashville and eight in front of San Jose in the Pacific, has lost two straight on its own rink, with both defeats coming in regulation after it dropped only two games in that fashion over its first 23 at home.
Arizona at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks continue their march toward first place in the Pacific Division on Tuesday when they begin a three-game homestand with a matchup against the Arizona Coyotes. San Jose trails first-place Vegas by eight points after posting a 3-2 shootout victory at Anaheim on Sunday.
