Preview Roundups
March 07, 2017
New Jersey at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets boast three shutouts in the last six games and try to accomplish the feat in both ends of a home-and-home series when they host the offensively challenged New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. The Blue Jackets, who are tied with Pittsburgh for second in the Metropolitan Division, blanked the Devils 3-0 on Sunday in New Jersey and have allowed six goals in six games.
Philadelphia at Buffalo 7:30 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers are starting to pick up the pieces after a disastrous stretch put their bid for a second straight postseason berth in peril while the Buffalo Sabres are mired in a tough run of their own. The Flyers and Sabres look to close their respective gaps toward the final wild-card berth in the Eastern Conference at the other's expense on Tuesday when the clubs meet at KeyBank Center in Western New York.
Detroit at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
Staggered by a five-game losing streak that took them from contending for first place in the Atlantic Division to falling outside of the playoff picture, the Toronto Maple Leafs look to regroup when they host the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. Toronto is one point out of the second wild card in the wake of its five-game skid (0-3-2).
NY Rangers at Florida 7:30 PM ET
The Florida Panthers face a tall order Tuesday as they attempt to break out of their slump and remain close in the race for the playoffs when they host the New York Rangers. Florida won one of its last six contests (1-4-1) as it sits two points out of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and five behind Boston for third place in the Atlantic Division.
St. Louis at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
It took a matchup against the worst team in hockey for the St. Louis Blues to halt their five-game slide, but they will be stepping well up in class when they visit the Central Division-leading Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night. The Blues hold a one-point lead for the final playoff in the Western Conference as they conclude a three-game road trip.
Carolina at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
While the Carolina Hurricanes are not mathematically eliminated from postseason contention, they have played themselves into a deep hole during a disastrous seven-week stretch. The Hurricanes are in 14th place in the Eastern Conference and nine points out of the second wild card entering Tuesday's matchup at the Colorado Avalanche.
NY Islanders at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
Stumbling out of the blocks has been a cause for concern for captain John Tavares, who has seen his New York Islanders drop three of four to fall to 3-2-1 on their franchise-high nine-game road trip. Clinging to the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, the Islanders look to get it in gear and put an end to a six-game (0-5-1) skid in Alberta's capital city on Tuesday when they visit the Edmonton Oilers.
Montreal at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
Carey Price returned from the Montreal Canadiens' league-mandated break and has shown flashes of the form that saw him claim the Hart and Vezina Trophy two seasons ago. Named the NHL's Third Star of the Week, Price will look to guide the Atlantic Division-leading Canadiens to their sixth straight win on Tuesday when the Vancouver native returns home to face the host Canucks.
Nashville at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
Nashville and Anaheim appear to be playoff bound despite shaky play of late as the Predators kick off a three-game California swing by visiting the Ducks on Tuesday. Anaheim alternated regulation wins and losses in its last 10 contests after Sunday's 2-1 setback to Vancouver while Nashville rides a two-game losing streak - 2-1 in Montreal on Thursday on a goal with nine seconds to play and 5-3 to Chicago on Saturday after the tiebreaking score came with 1:05 left.
