Preview Roundups
October 24, 2017
Arizona at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
Having moved over the .500 mark for the first time this season, the New York Islanders seek their third consecutive victory when they host the league's only winless team on Tuesday night. The reeling Arizona Coyotes have only one point through their first eight games and have lost their last four visits to New York by a combined 19-6.
Anaheim at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks are already a plus-1 prior to Tuesday's contest against the Philadelphia Flyers that kicks off a four-game road trip, but they'll play minus one of their top defenseman. Anaheim lost Cam Fowler for an unknown period of time with a knee injury he sustained in Friday's 6-2 victory over Montreal, but center Ryan Getzlaf (lower-body) returns to the lineup and defenseman Hampus Lindholm makes his season debut.
Edmonton at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Last season, Connor McDavid pried away some of the hardware that typically has been the property of Sidney Crosby, but the NHL's reigning MVP and his team have work to do if they hope to hoist the sport's ultimate trophy. McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers have a measuring-stick game on deck when they visit Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.
Tampa Bay at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
Two-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner Steven Stamkos is showing a new side to his game as a setup man and the Tampa Bay captain hopes to continue an early-season point barrage when the Lightning visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. Stamkos, who has recorded 324 goals in 595 NHL games, boasts league-bests of 15 assists and 18 points in nine games after missing most of 2016-17 with a knee injury.
Detroit at Buffalo 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings should be an angry team as they begin a three-game road trip against Atlantic Division rivals Tuesday night when they meet the improving Buffalo Sabres. The Red Wings are winless in four games (0-3-1) since starting the season with four victories in the first five contests, managing only 21 shots in a 4-1 setback against Vancouver at home Sunday.
Florida at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens came up empty in California but hope a three-day break will help them recover as they seek their first win since the season opener when they begin a three-game homestand Tuesday against the Florida Panthers. Montreal, which is off to its worst eight-game start since 1941, scored a total of five goals in its three setbacks on the West Coast, a trek that extended the club's winless streak to seven games (0-6-1).
Los Angeles at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings have no time to dwell on their first regulation loss of the season, as they continue their six-game road trip Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators. Los Angeles became the last team in the NHL to fail to earn a point as it dropped a 3-2 decision at Toronto on Monday to fall to 1-1-0 on its trek.
Calgary at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
While the Calgary Flames have enjoyed most of their success this season on the road, the Nashville Predators have yet to be beaten at home. Both teams look to continue their trends Tuesday as Calgary visits Nashville in the opener of its set of back-to-back road games.
Vancouver at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
Life on the road is agreeing with the Vancouver Canucks, who will wrap up a five-game trip with the visit to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night. The Canucks had dropped three in a row at home following a season-opening win, but they have turned things around and are 3-1-0 on the trek - all against Atlantic Division opponents.
Dallas at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars may have finally found a goaltender who can consistently lead them to the postseason as they try for their fifth straight victory when they begin a five-game road trip Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche. Ben Bishop (5-1-0, 2.09 goals-against average, .928 save percentage), who signed a six-year contract last summer, is expected to make his seventh straight start and eighth of the season.
Chicago at Vegas 10:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights keep winning games while losing goaltenders and look to continue their historic early-season run when the Chicago Blackhawks pay a visit Tuesday night. Vegas lost its No. 1 goalie Marc-Andre Fleury to a concussion, traded Calvin Pickard and waiver pickup Malcolm Subban was lost for at least four weeks with a lower-body injury in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime victory over St. Louis.
